I'm happy to announce that we already have the so long anticipated info on the Indigo Children phenomenon, thanks to *HiddenCaitastrophe. Hopefully, it will answer at least the most frequent questions directed to the club about the matter:)

I'll be happy to see your comments about it - ideas, objections, other points of view etc. In time this section will be updated with the best of your suggestions, as well as with answers of more specific questions. This will also be the place to seek such answers;) If it all works out, we might come up with one of the best readings on the internet about Indigo Children:)))

What Are Indigo Adults, Indigo Children & Crystal Children?

Indigos are those of us who tend to have a deeper spiritual connection to the Universe. They tend to be very intelligent and energetic. There are actually several different types of Indigos (Artistic, Conceptualist, Humanist & Interdimensional) so we all express ourselves a bit differently. Still, we almost all feel very lost and confused in this world, and greatly desire to make it a better place. Many have spiritual or psychic gifts and have memories of past lives. These gifts aren’t always immediately apparent (some feel that they are yet to be ‘awakened’;) but the main characteristics are still the same.
Although we are just realizing the pattern and purpose for Indigos, there are records of them being born as early as 1700. Until recently, there have only been a few born each generation. There seems to have been a jump in the Indigo population during the late 70's and early 80's (my generation). We are the for-runners for the next shift in human evolution.

It seems as the year 2000 hit, there was another shift in the birthing of Indigos. Along with Indigo children being born, during or after the year 2000, Crystal Children and Rainbow children have been added. These children have a much deeper gifts and even more distinct memories of other lifetimes, Universes, and dimensions. We can learn a lot from them. Again, they have been very rare throughout history and many adult Indigos are transitioning into Crystals at this time.

The term "Indigo" describes the dark purple and blue colors of our Soul Auras. Highlights of violet, green, gold and white are also apparent. Crystal and Rainbow children are also named for their Aura. Typically, it seems, Crystal and Rainbow children are being born to Indigo parents.

At this point, our best guess is on percentages is that Indigos make up approximately 15-25% of 20-30 year olds, 10-15% of 30-40 yr olds, 5-10% of 40-50 yr olds and 0-5% prior to that time. It's estimated that up to 80% of the births worldwide today are Indigo / Crystal / Rainbow children!

Unfortunately, many Indigos are being misdiagnosed and being medicated for ADD, ADHD, Bi-Polar and even, though rare, Autism. When Indigo children are subject to these medications and limits, it cuts them off from their gifts and can numb their spirit.

Therefore it is so important for these children to be supported and understood at home. It will take time for the education environment to change to accommodate and nurture these children. Without the support and understanding at home, Indigo children find their world harsh and extremely lonely. They cannot rejoice in who they are, but have to suppress their true brilliance in order for them to be accepted by their family, friends and society.

It is thought that Indigos are here to introduce us to a new era where we actively incorporate the spirit into our daily existence. They learn differently, think differently and function differently, but by no means does this mean they are dysfunctional or disordered. We are here to change the way things are done! Create new ideas on how to run businesses, to run government, to handle relationships, to care for the world, to understand education and the arts.

Other Indigo Characteristics

(Note, while many people may have these characteristics, most Indigos experience most or all of these.)

* Are intelligent, though may not have had top grades.

* Are very creative and enjoy making things.

* Always need to know WHY, especially why they are being asked to do something.

* Had disgust and perhaps loathing for much of the required and repetitious work in school.

* Were rebellious in school in that they refused to do homework and rejected authority of teachers, OR seriously wanted to rebel, but didn't DARE, usually due to parental pressure.

* May have experienced early existential depression and feelings of helplessness. These may have ranged from sadness to utter despair. Suicidal feelings while still in high school or younger are not uncommon in the Indigo Adult.

* Have difficulty in service-oriented jobs. Indigos resist authority and caste system of employment.

* Prefer leadership positions or working alone to team positions.

* Have deep empathy for others, yet an intolerance of stupidity.

* May be extremely emotionally sensitive including crying at the drop of a hat (no shielding) or may be the opposite and show no expression of emotion (full shielding).

* May have trouble with RAGE.

* Have trouble with systems they consider broken or ineffective, i.e. political, educational, medical, and legal.

* Alienation from or anger with politics - feeling your voice won't count and/or that the outcome really doesn't matter.

* Frustration with or rejection of the traditional American dream - 9-5 career, marriage, 2.5 children, house with white picket fence, etc.

* Anger at rights being taken away, fear and/or fury at "Big Brother watching you."

* Have a burning desire to do something to change and improve the world. May be stymied what to do. May have trouble identifying their path.

* Have psychic or spiritual interest appear fairly young - in or before teen years.

* Had few if any Indigo role models. Having had some doesn't mean you're not an Indigo, though.

* Have strong intuition.

* Random behavior pattern or mind style - (symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder). May have trouble focusing on assigned tasks, may jump around in conversations.

* Have had psychic experiences, such as premonitions, seeing angels or ghosts, out of body experiences, hearing voices.

* May be electrically sensitive such as watches not working and street lights going out as you move under them, electrical equipment malfunctioning and lights blowing out.

* May have awareness of other dimensions and parallel realities.

* Sexually are very expressive and inventive OR may reject sexuality in boredom or with intention of achieving higher spiritual connection. May explore alternative types of sexuality.

* Seek meaning to their life and understanding about the world May seek this through religion or spirituality, spiritual groups and books, self-help groups and books.

* When they find balance they may become very strong, healthy, happy individuals.

I get so excited whenever I read about Indigos, since it helps me to feel not so alone. It also gives me that rush of, "Omg, it fits me so perfectly." I would like to congratulate you on the writing of this, it is very well written. =] I'm also glad that you have added 'Indigio Adults' to it, since I find the term Indigo Children a bit demeaning.
:iconsonicfan2:
Indeed, I have and have experienced mostly every one of those things (except the last one about finding balance and one or two more scattered somewhere in there).

Although, when I was 5 an angel reader my mom knows defined me as a Star Child. I know for a fact that those are a seperate group from the others, but why is it that whenever I see things about my kind they almost always talk about either Indigos, Crystals, or Rainbows but NEVER mention Star Children? It confuses me...and somewhat makes me feel like my group isn't important...

Helped me understand what this club is really about, and made me realize that i have stumbled upon a vast understanding of parts of myself. i fit into every characteristic and became very smiley throughout the paragraphs of descriptions. i am very aware of my ';past' and have dreams that, too often, come true.
this still makes me feel like i'm being heard as insane, but whatever. i'm glad i found this club now.
danke :)

That's scary... cause I'm pretty much all of the above. So-why do the Indigos exist? Or better yet, how?
And... doesn't this stuff mostly apply to everyone who's an artist? Just free souled people? I mean, what's the difference of an Indigo child and just a kid that rebels and has a big imagination?

:iconindigochildren:
The first couple of questions seem to be applicable for any and every natural and supernatural phenomenon. And they also seem to be one of the hardest to answer.

As for the kids - Indigos tend to keep those traits and even further develop them instead of loosing them along with the childhood;)
:iconelliez:
Yeah, but what about people that do that just for the heck of it, for fun? Are you saying that Indigos are ALL the kids that do that? And how do you know who has what color of an aura, if any? Sorry, I just never heard about Indigo children so I don't get it xD

I'm both amazed and highly surprised to find this community here on DeviantART! I had no idea such a group existed! To think I found it out of boredom and typing "indigo" into the search bar. : )

Back in January, someone I watched just happened to do some artwork about aura colors. Much like some of the description in this journal, I'm very defiant, so much so that I'm very skeptical of just about everything spiritual, but it also greatly interests me, because you just CAN'T tell me that I am not to learn about something after I've heard a little about it. lol

They also posted a journal about a website with a huge list of questions to determine your "aura color". Again, skeptical but interested I took the test most for curiosities sake, and it told me I was an Indigo. It wasn't until I read the description on the site about Indigo's, that really struck a cord with me, and I began researching this moreso.

I've never EVER read a description that was more "me" in my life. Things and feelings and thoughts I've never shared with anyone. It's....kinda relieving and reassuring that I'm not completely insane.

Still skeptical, but also very interested in learning more. I hope this community can maybe help me do that. : )
